Rotonda West Association, Inc.
Managers Report
February 10, 2010
The Charlotte County building department has put up a couple of hurdles in the permitting process for the Phase II repairs and renovations to the Community Center. Our engineers and contractor have prepared a response to the plans examiner and we expect to gain ground this week in acquiring the permit for this project.
We received a draft of the Community Maintenance contract today from our attorneys. After completing a review of the draft we anticipate having the contract signed by this time next week.
The revised plans for the Oakland Hills Marina Project were released to the contractors on January 27th. Bids for the project were opened today. The bids will be reviewed this Friday by the Properties Committee bid evaluation team. The team will make their recommendation to the Properties Committee on Monday, February 15, at 10:00 AM at a special meeting of the Properties Committee. The committee will make their recommendation to the Board of Directors at a special meeting on Tuesday, February 16 at 10:00 AM. We are anticipating an early March start for this project.
On January 20 the County formed Rotonda West Street & Drainage MSBU Committee met at the Murdock Administration Center to discuss future projects and the budget for the 2011 fiscal year. The committee discussed a number of projects including the feasibility of bike and walking paths around Parade Circle. The County will be sending out engineering staff to survey the area and determine the feasibility of the project. Also within the next three weeks Charlotte County Public Works will begin construction on the already budgeted and approved project to install fabric form concrete on each side of all 47 apices within Rotonda West. This project will also reduce the slope on all of the apices locations and decrease erosion and silt build up in our canal system.
We had our challenges in getting the 2010 statements mailed by the end of January but with a lot of help from our friends we accomplished the task. First I want to thank Norene Kugler for the extraordinary amount of hours she worked to get the customer database corrected to accomplish the mailing. I also want to thank Claudette Romano, Cathy Mosley, Donna Krabbe and Lois Burger for their assistance with data entry. Many thanks to the folding, stuffing, sorting and metering crew who worked on Friday and Saturday; Joe & Claudette Romano, George & Donna Krabbe, George & Lois Burger, Nick Gizzi, Norene &Mel Kugler, Cathy Mosley, Ginnie Mahon, Elaine Wehle, Earl Hass, Linda Lyons and last but not least Dianne Brophy. As usual if it wasn’t for our volunteers we couldn’t get the job done.
Respectfully submitted,
Jay Lyons
