Chair Claudette Romano called the meeting to order at 2:00 PM. The above members were present and represented a quorum. The committee reviewed the minutes of the January 4, 2007 and accepted them with the following corrections:
Margie Carroll should be listed as present, and Art Richards rather than John Eisele should be listed as recommending Steve Reagan as the source for a County ROW permit.
Update on Reflective Directional Signs - Claudette Romano reported that work was in progress on replacing the current directional signs with similar design signs having both reflective letters and background. These were ordered from Quick Signs, who reduced their price from a quoted $425 (two sided) each to $2,000 for eight signs. John Eisele and Derek Gilbert will install.
Update on White Marsh Memorial Park - The slope down to the water is complete and sodded. We are waiting for the bill from FPL so we can establish service at this location. The concrete curbing will be installed on Friday February 2. The design of the center island has been altered. It has been increased by 2 feet on each side, space has been made for a donated flagpole, if Committee agrees, and the entire center island will be filled with fire rock and plantings. Designer Art Richards indicated that he was against this change and wished to preserve the design where the center was filled with fire rock and it was surrounded by washed shell. The majority of the committee wished to have just fire rock.
Chairlady Romano explained that if the Flag Pole was placed at the White Marsh Memorial Park, John Eisele Inc. would donate Flag Poles for Broadmoor and Pebble Beach. Stan and Karen Rennow will donate the Flags. The Association would just pay for installation. With such an offer, the Committee agreed.
Ribbon Cutting Ceremony – The ribbon cutting ceremony for White Marsh Memorial Park will be Saturday March 10 at 2:00 PM. Food will be served. The Press will be contacted and County Commissioner Tom Moore will be invited to attend. Ken Guillerm said he would supply the ribbon for the ceremony.
Donated Flag/Flag Pole - The donated flagpole will be placed in the White Marsh Marina, behind the center island. The flag will be lighted and John Eisele Inc. will maintain the flag and lower when necessary.
Oldies Dance - After discussion, it was decided to hold this event in January 2008 in order to attract the largest possible attendance.

Estimates on Curbing 39 section signs - Chair Claudette Romano presented 2 quotes for concrete curbing - Artistic Curbing $3,750 and Oak Farms $4,800. After discussion it was decided to retain the current black flexible edging and repair or replace it when necessary.
Status of Newspaper Boxes - Parade Circle - The Manager reported that he had discussed removal of these boxes with several people at the Sun, including Nelson Mesa, who seemed agreeable to remove them from these areas and placement into the marinas.
Rotonda Blvd. West Bridge Design, Oak Farms - Chair Claudette Romano showed a preliminary design for this area created by Oak Farms. Discussion centered around the when the County might curb the center island. The Committee asked President Nick Gizzi to contact County Administrator to try and speed this process. The Manager was asked to get two additional quotes based on the Oak Farms design and to ask for a staggered installation, with the outer edges done now and the center island done when the County completes curbing it. Ken Guillerm and Bruce Miller indicated that this project was a priority because residents of Oakland Hills were concerned that none of the beautification projects were occurring in Oakland Hills. Claudette Romano indicated that David Kelly, RGCC, had offered to contribute something to the beautification of Boulevard West.
Repair & Painting of Entrance Signs - Chair Claudette Romano showed a design for a rider reading "Patrolled by Neighborhood Watch" and suggested that this be placed on the top of the existing entrance signs in the West, North, Repel Court and Cape Haze entrances to one side of the existing logo in the center. Also proposed was another rider to be placed on the other side of the logo that would read "No Soliciting". Ken Guillerm moved that the entrance signs in the West, North, Repel Court and Cape Haze entrances be repainted by John Eisele, Inc at a total cost of $1,825. Motion seconded by Barbara Peszko and approved unanimously. Bruce Miller moved to amend the motion to include mounting the Neighborhood Watch on one side of these signs and No Soliciting on the other side. Each sign to cost no more than $75.00. Motion seconded by John Peszko and approved unanimously.
Update on "Face Lift" for Oakland Hills Marina - Art Richards discussed a preliminary design which would entail removing portions of the pavement in the parking area, replacing curbing, landscaping and installing a flag/flagpole. The 5 year plan schedules these improvements for 2008.
Earth Week Clean-up - Chairlady Linda Harrison indicated that Clean-up week would start on Monday, April 16 and end on Saturday, April 21 at the Rotonda Park with a BBQ, from 12Noon to 3PM. More information will be in the West Ways.
