Minutes - March 1, 2007

 

Present: Claudette Romano, Chair., Sue Artz, Margie Carroll, Linda Harrison and John Peszko

Absent: Barbara Peszko, Art Richards, Bruce Miller and Ken Guillerm

Management: Dianne Brophy, Secretary

Other Members Present: Walter and Claudette Taylor, Derek Gilbert,John Eisele, Marty and Jim Mayer, George Krabbe and Joseph Romano

Chairman Romano, called the meeting to order at 2:00 pm. Roll call was taken. The minutes were accepted as written.

Update on Reflective Directional Signs - Chairman Romano gave an update on reflective directions signs. The signs at Rebel Court and Cape Haze Drive have been repaired and installed. The sign at Rotonda Blvd. West has been taken down for repair and reflective background and lettering will be on both sides of sign. Chairman Romano presented to the committee the new signs for Neighborhood Watch and No Solicitation. These signs will be installed at the three (3) entrances, once entrance signs have been repaired. Update-White Marsh Memorial Park - Derek Gilbert gave a brief summary of what is happening at the White Marsh Memorial Park. Florida Power and Light has hooked up the electricity. Adjustments are needed to the sprinkler heads. Derek asked does the committee want to wait until the ribbon cutting ceremony to raise the flag? Discussion followed. It was decided that the flag would be raised just prior to ribbon cutting.

Chairman Romano stated that there are three (3) flag poles. Two of which were donated by John Eisele and the flag pole at White Marsh Memorial Park was donated by Stan and Karen Rennow. The Rennow’s donated all three (3) flags.

Ribbon Cutting Ceremony - Set for 2:00pm Saturday, March 10, 2007, snacks, water and soda will be served after the ceremony. Commissioner Moore and Judy Hunter have been invited.

Update on Tract B 7 Gazebo - Pest Control - George Krabbe stated that the Properties Committee is working on redoing the Gazebo and cement work where it has been undermined. The steps at the marina are in need of repair. Pest control will be handled by the Beautification/Mowing Committee.

Rotonda Blvd. West Curbing - MSBU - Chairman Romano stated there will be an MSBU meeting at the Community Center on Monday, March 5, at 2:30pm and she will be attending as this curbing should be under MSBU jurisdiction. It was also stated that there is a fund for trees.

Update on Clean up Week - April 16 - 21, 2007 - Linda Harrison gave her report that more residents have signed up to help. She also stated that notices of Clean Up Week have been placed in the Sun Herald and the Boca Grande newspaper. John Eisele will be handling the picnic.

Oakland Hills Marina (2008 Project) - Chairman Romano stated that it would be the biggest project and work is slated for 2008. Art Richards will have drawings to present to the committee at their next meeting. Committee members were also asked to present ideas for Oakland Hills Marina at the next meeting.

Walter Taylor, Neighborhood Watch, thanked the committee for the purchase of the signs stating that Rotonda West Association is patrolled by Neighborhood Watch.

There being no further business, the meeting was adjourned at 2:17 pm

The next meeting date will be April 5, 2007 at 2:00 pm.
