Minutes
August 9, 2007

 

Present:  Claudette Romano (Chair), Margie Carroll, Ken Guillerm, Linda Harrison, Bruce Miller, Barbara and John Peszko, Art Richards. and Sue Artz.

Management:  Julie Pittman, Manager

Other Members:  Joseph Romano, John Carroll, Donna and George Krabbe and Nick Gizzi.

Vendors Present:  Oak Farms Nursery and Larsen & Associates Landscape Contractors.

The meeting was called to order at 2:00 p.m. Roll Call was taken.  The minutes of August 2, 2007 were accepted as presented with the date change correction.

Bid Opening:  Rotonda Blvd West Bridge Median:  Claudette Romano opened each bid and discussion was started on prices presented by each vendor.  Each vendor was asked to explain what their bid included.  Larsen offered watering for three months for an additional $1000.  Oak Farms did not offer watering.  Bid for Oak Farms was $12,171.25 with a one year warranty. 

MOTION BY CLAUDETTE ROMANO TO ACCEPT BID FROM OAK FARMS NURSERY. ALL IN FAVOR.  BID ACCEPTED AS PRESENTED. 

Vendors left the building and the meeting continued. 

Review Revised Specifications:  Oakland Hills Marina Renovations: Art Richards explained the Revised Specifications in detail.  Lighting was also discussed and will be needed upon completion of this project.  A safety and Rules and Regulations sign will be placed down by the water area.

  • Project will be presented to the Budget/Finance Committee in a three part project to make funding easier.  The Committee will ask for $25,000 in funding in 2008 to begin phase 1 of the project.  Total cost of project will be $60,000.
  • Phase 1 of the project will begin in March or April 2008.

Sun Newspapers:  Claudette Romano discussed several problems with the Sun not conforming to the newspaper boxes already in place.

MOTION BY BRUCE MILLER THAT THE SUN NEWSPAPER MUST CONFORM TO THE STANDARDS SET FORTH BY THE RWA AND ALL BOXES MUST BE THE SAME AS THE PAPER BOXES ALREADY INSTALLED BY THE HERALD TRIBUNE.  IF UNWILLING TO CONFORM, ALL BOXES MUST BE REMOVED BY THE SUN HERALD WITHIN THIRTY DAYS.  FUTURE INSTALLATION OF ANY BOXES MUST BE APPROVED BY THE RWA.  LINDA HARRISON SECONDED. ALL IN FAVOR.  MOTION ACCEPTED. 

Family Fun Day:  Family Fun day is approaching quickly.   Thirty to Forty (30/40) vendors are scheduled to attend.  Claudette Romano showed the Committee a bin for any member that would like to donate candy for the kids.  The bin will be placed on a table in the Community Center.
