Chairman Burger called the meeting to order at 9:00 am. Roll call was taken. Minutes of August 13 and 23 will be approved at the next meeting.
Several articles were given to the committee regarding parking issues. Discussion ensued.
Chairman Burger stated that the meeting today would be on Section 21 only. George Burger stated the problem is with commercial vehicles and signs on the vehicles. The size of the signs need to be limited to a specific size and size of vehicles. Sue Artz stated that FPL and Comcast would not change the signs on their trucks. It is advertising. Victor Claussen said a lot of residents in Rotonda West own their own businesses. Discussion ensued on "Privately Owned." Pete Traverso suggested to remove "other than privately owned" so that the first line in Section 21 subsection (b) will read, "All vehicles other than pickup trucks, SUV’s, van, motorcycles, etc." Discussion ensued regarding subsection (b). Pete Traverso suggested that Section 21 (b) should be redefined. There should be a subsection added for Visible Signage. Steve Kennedy said do not restrict people from bringing their vehicles home. Bob Seneca said what happens with duplexes that do have garages.
The committee said they will have to find a storage area for large trucks and boats. Pete Traverso suggested that signage cannot be larger than 24 inches by 18 inches. It should probably read no large the 432 square inches. Discussion followed on the amount of signs per vehicle. It was decided that you could have signs on both sides of vehicle and either the back or the front of a vehicle. The number of signs on a vehicle cannot exceed three (3) per vehicle. Donna Krabbe asked about the designs on the vehicles or logos. Pete Traverso suggested that wording should be, "432 square inches of lettering and design." The RWA should have the right to review the signs. Pete Traverso said the committee should focus on aesthetics i.e. pipes and ladders. Steve Kennedy said we should be consistent, no large signs and keep pipes and hoses off truck. If signs are too large they can be covered up with magnetic covers. Section 19 subsection (d) first line "approved" needs to be added to read, "Any vehicle not required to park in a garage must park on an approved driveway." The last sentence to be removed. Section 19 subsection (e) remove, "a stone, shell or concrete driveway with the." It will now read, "Existing single driveways leading to an existing one car garage in a single family residence may be expanded with written approval of the RMC." Section 19 subsection (f) add "to one side." It will now read, at those home sites where a single car garage and a non-expanded single lane driveway co-exist, additional vehicles may only be parked in tandem, in a single lane immediately to one side and parallel to the existing driveway." Section 19 subsection (g) will now read, At home sites with a two (2) or more car garage and/or two (2) or more car wide driveway, parking off the driveway is prohibited." Section 19 subsection (h) will now read, "un-licensed and or inoperable vehicles must be stored in a garage." Pete Traverso said under Section (e) new construction is allowing pavers to be used for driveways. This will need to be included in the RMC guidelines.
Donna Krabbe said a lot of work needs to be done with aesthetics including mold on houses.
There being no further business the meeting was adjourned at 10:50 am
The next meeting will be October 2, 2007 at 9:00 am.
Respectfully submitted,
