Janitorial Service – Community Center:
John Heary has worked at RWA for 15 years as the janitor. The quality of John’s worked was examined when an increase for his services was received by the RWA office. George Krabbe met with John to discuss his quality of work and John agreed to bring his standards up to an acceptable level. John has requested his rate for service be raised from $65 per week to $70 per week. After reviewing John’s file, it was found there is no Charlotte County license on record. John has been informed he cannot continue working at the Community Center until a valid Charlotte County license is on file. All Committee members agreed. The most recent contract on file is from June 2000. To date, RWA has received 2 bids for janitorial service.
Darryle Greene Enterprises (phone installation contractor):
Darryle Greene Enterprises was present to discuss his proposal for installation of a new phone system. Darryle explained the proposal in detail to the Committee. Darryle did bring a Panasonic phone for the Committee to view. Darryle has also worked with Daystar and gave the Committee his opinion of their service. He indicated he knows several businesses that use Daystar with satisfaction. George discussed Darryle’s proposal line by line. George indicated this bid was more than RWA had budgeted. George eliminated the wireless headsets from the bid, which lowered the bid $897. This brought the bid down to $2240. Darryle indicated he would supply the RWA with the proper license and insurance to perform any necessary work for the RWA. Daystar’s bid for service would be a $200 per month savings to the RWA. The Committee members agreed to purchase the phone system from Darryle Greene Enterprises, and to accept Daystar’s bid for phone service and internet service.
Office Equipment:
The computer purchase was discussed by the Committee. George discussed the bid from Nextwave Computers. George stated they could possibly exclude Microsoft Office Pro 2007 from the bid, which would lower the bid by $679.98. The Committee agreed to wait for John Carroll's and Ken Hirsch's opinions on this computer purchase. George discussed the Epson media projector and asked Julie to contact Ray, from Nextwave, and see if this projector would be available for a demonstration.
Rules governing use of Community Center:
George explained that some of the groups using the Community Center aren’t cleaning up after themselves, leaving the mess for the RWA to deal with. Julie was asked to compose a letter to all Committees/Groups indicating what the rules for the Community Center are and indicate that, if not left clean, they will be charged a clean up fee. Some guidelines need to be established by the Committee. George indicated food being left in the garbage cans for days was unacceptable. George asked each Committee member to send any suggested guidelines to him via email.
